The Foundation addressed the topic of food and health from an innovative angle, which focused on the relationships between the various dimensions of development sustainability and their implications, identified the role of knowledge in overcoming the limits of these issues, and drew up possible strategies.
To this end, and in collaboration with the Ministry for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, the Foundation drew up pan information and communication project on the links between consumer guidance measures, health protection and development sustainability dimensions.The “Portal of Sustainability” was used as a Web Project with two specific sections devoted to food and health respectively.
These sections were promoted in the framework of the Foundation’s 2nd April 2009 Forum with the subjects of food and health being debated during the round table.
A number of interesting initiatives have been created in the training field. In particular, some of the young talents who collaborate with the Foundation organized the following specialised seminars on specific aspects of this topic:
- Food, health and wellbeing of the consumer: from choice specifics to market opportunities;
- Consumer health protection and information and communication technology;
- Consumers’ behaviours and attitudes toward healthy food products: The case of Organic and Functional foods.
